⁵ Seeing this, Aaron built an altar before the calf and proclaimed, “Tomorrow shall be a feast in honor of the Lord.” ⁶ The following day they rose early, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings. The people sat down and ate and drank. They then rose to divert themselves.

⁷ The Lord said to Moses, “Leave, go down, because your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, have become perverse.
